A collection of succulents grow happily in this hypertufa container we made years ago at a Harry P. Leu Gardens workshop. Hypertufa is made from a mixture of peat moss and Portland cement formed around a mold. It's a bit messy but the result is delightful. For a hypertufa recipe look in the book, Jim Wilson's Container Gardening. It's listed and reviewed on our About Hortus Oasis/Tips/Favorite Garden Publications page.

NEW IN 2010!
Check out our brand new sister web site that shares many of our Pategai On Plants articles that are now online for the first time. When Ornamental Outlook magazine stopped publishing after 18 years we went online. Click Here

SEE US ON PBS!
Joe Lamp'l the host of Growing a Greener World, a new PBS TV show filmed the first segment at our garden just days after our ten days of frosty temperatures. We were both interviewed about "green" gardening and vegetable gardening. Look for a May broadcast debut. Meanwhile The Park Press newspaper picked up the story and ran it on the cover of their February issue.

READ "IN THE GARDEN"
We are co-authoring a monthly garden column called "In the Garden" for The Park Press a local publication for Winter Park, College Park, Maitland, and Baldwin Park.

TRAINED IN LANDSCAPE BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
In late 2009 we each received six hours of training in right plant/right place, proper pesticide and fertilizer practices, and landscape maintenance for efficiency.

Restoration at Casa Feliz is completed. The gardens contain huge antique amphoras tipped on their sides and planted with succulents from our garden. The giant timber bamboo on the east side is successfully screening the two story building next door. Casa Feliz is now available to rent for special events.
