Stephen Pategas is an award-winning landscape architect and co-owner, with his wife, Kristin, of Hortus Oasis in Winter Park, FL. They provide services in residential, commercial and specialty garden design and consultation, garden writing, garden and horticultural photography, award submittals and horticultural education.

Stephen Pategas is a registered landscape architect (FL Reg #1090), a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (www.asla.org) and the Garden Writers Association (www.gwaa.org). Stephen and Kristin shared their passion for plants in the monthly column Pategai On Plants which appeared in Ornamental Outlook Magazine for over eighteen years.

Stephen and Kristin received three awards for their design of the Teaching Garden at the Disney Institute: FNGA 1997 Roy Rood Award of Landscape Excellence, FNGA 1997 Best in Category for Special Project, New Installation and the FCASLA 1998 Award of Merit. Stephen also received the FNGA 1998 Special Community Project Award and the FCASLA 1998 Award of Merit for The Park at Orwin Manor and the FNGA 2000 Best in Category for Special Project, New Installation for the It's Growing! Exhibit at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.

Stephen has also been honored as the FNGA Outstanding Horticulture Writer in 1997 for his contributions to Ornamental Outlook magazine and as the Winter Park Rotary Business & Professional Person of the Year in 1995.

Stephen uses his garden photography and practical experience to create unique and informative programs and workshops. He has also appeared as a guest landscape architect and horticulturist on HGTV's WayToGrow program (www.hgtv.com). Stephen's areas of expertise include garden design, plant materials, garden ornamentation and specialty gardens for Florida.
